Habitat and Distribution: 

West and Central Africa. African Ropefish inhabit slow-moving or stagnant freshwater environments, such as swamps, streams, and flooded areas. They are often found in regions with dense aquatic vegetation and submerged structures, using these as hiding spots and shelters.

Size and Lifespan: 

In the wild, African Ropefish can reach sizes of 16 to 20 inches. In captivity, they generally grow to around 12 to 15 inches. The lifespan of African Ropefish ranges from 8 to 12 years or more when provided with proper care and suitable conditions.

Diet and Behavior:

African Ropefish are carnivorous and primarily consume small fish, insects, and aquatic invertebrates in their natural habitat. In an aquarium, they can be fed a diet consisting of live or frozen foods such as fish, shrimp, earthworms, and insects.
